Technical advancements were forecasted to allow for increased spare time in the 21st century. At present, I believe that this forecast has mostly become a reality considering the effects of technology both at work and at home even though the pressure on working people might linger on.

The foremost rationale for my belief that technological developments have increased leisure time is their work applications. Specifically, numerous advancements in the workplace have allowed employees to facilitate their work processes. For instance, companies in Norway have installed AI-powered office software that enable their workers to create organisational documents more speedily, contributing to a recent reduction in office hours.

Another justification why I maintain that modern people are enjoying more free time due to technology is the presence of technical gadgets in households. There are various home appliances that can greatly simplify the completion of household chores. Instead of spending hours washing clothes, many people can simply take a few minutes to place them into a washing machine, then wait for the washing cycle to complete. This enables them to enjoy greater quality time at home.

However, I accept that rapid technical changes also urge modern employees to constantly acquire new knowledge. It is because innovations in technology can fundamentally alter the nature of a profession, forcing professionals to spare more time updating their knowledge. To illustrate, banking practices have shifted so remarkably since the advent of the Internet that Vietnamese bank tellers are required to dedicate evenings to participating in classes on digital banking processes if they wish to stay employed.

In conclusion, I largely concur that technology has granted people in this century more free time as it assists them to fulfill their work and household responsibilities effectively, although it demands a constant update of knowledge. That is why governments should sponsor more technological research to propel the positive changes even further.
